Little children don’t understand “in five days” yet, but “five more sleeps” they do – so this countdown counts in beds. For every night until the big day there is a little bed with a moon over it, and beside them waits the picture of the day itself: a birthday, a holiday, Grandma and Grandpa, the first day at daycare. Each morning the bed of the night just slept lights up, the child taps it, the rooster crows, and the sun rises over the bed. So the suns grow and the moons get fewer, until on the big day its picture stands big. We set the day and the picture, and if you like, you print the moons and color one in each morning.
